If you use on site generated waste wood as a fuel don’t get caught out by changes to the environmental permitting regulations (EPR) and the medium combustion directive.
Due to the Governments commitment to ensure environmental responsibility and a reduction in the UK carbon emissions, more stringent emissions limits have been set with new guidance to be published soon. The new EPR guidance will supersede the now outdated PG1/12 (13) for the combustion of waste wood. Due to the increased deployment of waste wood and biomass boiler systems all Government agencies such as BEIS, DEFRA, Ofgem, the BSL and Environment Agency are liaising with each other to ensure compliancy. This is a welcomed approach as it is apparent that there is much confusion around the combustion of waste wood and where the regulatory responsibility lies.
ECS can help untangle much of this and provide an initial assessment as to what actions you may or may not need to take. Act now to give peace of mind and ensure you are fulfilling your obligations.
